01 / Context & research
The project responds to the overlap of working, eating and relaxing at home. The original boards bring together pandemic-era context, questionnaire synthesis and a comparison of existing coffee tables.
02 / Needs & design direction
Affinity mapping framed three priorities: multifunctionality, aesthetics and a sustainable material direction. An intended audience and design persona helped translate these priorities into everyday scenarios.
03 / Sketches & physical exploration
Sketches and small models explore alternative forms and construction approaches. Full-scale cardboard mockups then examine the relationship between the table, the sofa and seated activities. The annotations raise questions about height, leg space, support and storage.
04 / CAD, colour & materials
CAD studies explore proportions and use positions alongside a moodboard for colour, material and finish. The material boards propose recycled HDPE and a sheet-forming process; these describe a material direction, rather than verified manufacturing or environmental performance.
05 / Final concept & use scenarios
The final concept separates a higher working surface from a lower refreshment area, with central storage and a lower cable area. The renderings show these functions together in a living-room setting.
